A Bit About Me

Hey there! I'm Julian, a 26-year-old Colombian-born designer with a passion for creativity and innovation. Fluent in both English and Spanish, I'm all about blending cultures and perspectives into my work.

As a designer, I thrive on challenge and excitement. While specializing in packaging during college, I developed an interest in production processes and materials. I'm constantly seeking to expand my knowledge and improve my skills, whether it's through hands-on experimentation with 3D printers or diving into the world of photography, editing and graphic design.

One thing you should know about me: I'm a go-getter who loves what I do. I'm hardworking, responsive and always ready to dive headfirst into a new project. With an extroverted personality and a knack for collaboration, I'm all about bringing people together to create something truly special.

When I'm not immersed in the world of design, you can find me on my skateboard, tinkering under the hood of my car or at the gym. I'm a music enthusiast, and I've got a serious case of wanderlust – there's nothing I love more than exploring new places and experiencing different cultures.

TRES TILDES

2017 - 2020

At Grill Rescue, my journey began as a product developer shortly after graduating from college and relocating to the USA. Working closely with the founders, I played an integral role in launching new products within the grilling industry, focusing on safety and accessibility. Within months, I spearheaded my first project on Kickstarter, which raised over $400k in just 30 days, marking a significant milestone for the company. As I continued to grow within the organization, I expanded my expertise beyond product development, gaining confidence in areas such as team management, supplier sourcing, operations, marketing, e-commerce, and product cost and finances. Recognizing my dedication and contributions, I was promoted to Innovation and Operations Lead within a year, where I oversaw every aspect of product development from conceptualization to market launch. Another year later, I was further promoted to General Manager, where I now lead and oversee the entire team, driving the company's growth and success.

At Mastech / Fireparts, I transitioned into the dynamic world of the motorcycle industry, designing accessories and parts. This opportunity arose from a strong relationship with my professors, who recognized my passion and skills in design. Working closely with the design department and company founder, I immersed myself in various aspects of the production process. Located adjacent to the factory, I gained hands-on experience in production processes, including thermoforming, sheet metal fabrication, 3D scanning, and laser cutting. Collaborating with fellow designers, I played a key role in innovating new products and enhancing existing designs, contributing to the company's success in the competitive motorcycle accessory market.

At Haceb, the largest appliance company in Colombia, I embarked on an enriching internship experience in 2019 prior to completing my college education. Working within a small design team of five, I played a pivotal role in significant projects that impacted households across Colombia. My responsibilities included conducting thorough market research, contributing to conceptualization efforts, assessing project viability, and exploring various materials for product development. This immersive experience provided me with invaluable insights into the intricacies of product design, market dynamics, and material selection.

At Tres Tildes, an entrepreneurial venture I began in 2017 while still in college, I utilized my expertise in 3D printing to provide prototyping services to companies and individuals in need of industrial design solutions. This initiative was launched at a time when 3D printing technology was not widely known in Colombia, filling a crucial gap in the market and enabling the development of innovative products. Through Tres Tildes, I gained invaluable experience in both entrepreneurship and the practical applications of 3D printing technology.
